Module 3: Connections Between Families and Society

Learning Objectives

Upon successful completion of this module, students will be able to:

  • Explain the bidirectional influences between families and society; how families support society and how society supports individual families
  • Compare cultural ideals prominent in the United States to those of other Western nations
  • Compare and contrast family policy in the United States and other countries 
  • Identify how the market economy in the U.S. impacts family life

Overview

Module 3 allows students to examine the bidirectional relationship between families and society to better understand policy. Additionally, students will compare the United States to other developed and Western nations, such as Sweden.
