Why we are including this example
Introduction: In order to set you and your group/team up for success, you all need to come together and decide on how to work together. This helps to develop a shared responsibility for the work needed, increase each member's awareness of behaviors and impact, and above all, enhance the quality of the group experience and provide direction for moving forward together.
Task: Create a team contract that supports the group's communication policy, incorporates an understanding of learning and working styles, and identifies the roles each of you will play in your team. Working together, each team member is expected to contribute to the writing of the contact using the template provided.
How: There are two parts (Get Organized + Discuss and Complete) for how you should do this assignment.

- Determine a day and time as well as how you will meet (conference call, Microsoft Teams, Google Hangouts, etc)
- Meet and complete the Team Contract assignment
Discuss and Complete the Team Contract
- Read this entire assignment page and follow the instructions
- Review the Team Contract template Download Team Contract template
- Have one team member download it and upload it to a place where you all can access and work on it together (e.g., Google docs, etc.)
- Discuss and determine how you will manage as a team for each of the topic sections of the contract. See more info below.
- Complete the Team Contract and convert it to a PDF to submit. Don't forget to proofread it!
Instructions: Your Team Contract has 9 elements. Complete each of them and provide 3-4 specific action items for each (except for Team Name and Signature). Use bullet points in each section and write complete sentences describing concrete and specific actions.

- What you want to accomplish together (besides complete the work)
- Communication
- Determine how you will communicate, response time expectations
- Make sure all contact information has been exchanged and preferred methods
- Select a platform to host your meetings (e.g., Google Hangouts, Teams, etc.) You will need to meet virtually or if permissible face to face
- Participation and Meetings
- Define participation
- Plan on specific days each week to touch base as a team
- Designate a day of the week to meet in person or virtually
- Designated day(s) to update notes and complete assignments
- Roles and Responsibilities
- Determine meeting roles like who will take meeting notes, set the meeting agenda, follow up with reminders, meeting time keeper, etc.
- Outline team member strengths like editor, creator, etc.
- Decision-making Process
- Determine how you will decide on assignment tasks, which ideas to move forward with, etc.
- Conflict Resolution
- Determine how you will problem-solve difficulties and complete the work that's required
- Consequences
- Define what will happen to team members who miss meetings, don't respond, don't complete work, etc.
- Signatures
- Sign the contract (you can write your name, insert a digital icon mark or image)
What is Meant by Concreate and Specific Action Items?
- Vague (and not acceptable; points will be deducted from your grade)
- Members will update progress regularly.
- Members are to complete the work.
- We will have regular meetings.
- Concrete and Specific (and acceptable for the contract)
- Before our team meetings on Mondays at 11 a.m., each team member will provide updates by posting the information/research needed in the group Google doc.
- At the end of each meeting, we will recap our specific action items and who is responsible for completing them and when the specific deadline date is for each task.
- Meetings will be held on Mondays at 11 a.m. via Microsoft Teams and Sally Student set up the Teams calendar meeting to all by Saturday.
