E-tivity 10

  DISCUSS

WHY? (LEARNING OUTCOMES):  We will use video discussions in this course (meet Course Outcomes #1, 2, 3, 4). Using video discussions provides an easy way for you to apply course information and self-reflect—valuable study methods to foster learning. Furthermore, the video discussions allow you to watch videos of your peers, learn from each other, and compare your learning with that of your peers. Additionally, it will motivate each of you to speak and the responses will prompt further discussions. Lastly, using video discussions will increase the feeling of social connectedness, which has been shown to improve academic performance.

HOW? (INSTRUCTIONS): For class discussions we will be posting discussion videos. The link below provides information on how to record and post videos. Each week, you will complete an E-tivity, requiring you to read the prompts of the assignment carefully, write down your answers, and use these answers to create your video. You will also create a video to reply to the peer who posted prior to you.

How to record videos

Create a 3-minute video choosing one of the two options below. Post your video by Thursday at midnight and your reply by Monday at midnight.

Options

Option 1: This is what happens to your brain on opioids

Option 2: Heroin addict on how drug ruins lives

GRADING RUBRIC:  All grading of discussions is based on a 10-point scale as follows:  Completeness - 4 pts (all prompts responded to and comments are relevant to the material), Accuracy - 4 pts (comments are accurate and match what we know from the chapter), Reply - 2 pts (you responded genuinely, not superficially, to 1 of your classmates as instructed). Your reply should foster further discussion related to the topic.
