ALT 1 E-tivity: Haiku (Discussion)

WHY? (LEARNING OUTCOMES):  We will use video discussions in this course (meet Course Outcomes #1, 2, 3, 4). Using video discussions provides an easy way for you to apply course information and self-reflect—valuable study methods to foster learning. As an alternate e-tivity assignment, you can choose ALT 1 E-tivity: Haiku.

 

HOW? (INSTRUCTIONS):  You will write a Haiku on one of the psychoactive substances (alcohol, anxiolytics, caffeine, psychomotor stimulants, opioids, antipsychotic drugs, antidepressants, cannabis, or hallucinogens). The haiku will focus on specific concept of this drug of your choice. In addition, you will need to describe/explain your reasoning of the development of the haiku relating it to the course material in the module.

A Haiku Links to an external site. is a special 17 syllabus poem that does not rhyme and follows the following syllabus distribution: 5 7 5. 

Here is an example of a Haiku I wrote about psychopharmacology:

 

Study psychopharm

To learn understand apply

How drugs work in brain

 

GRADING RUBRIC:  This alternate e-tivity is graded based on 10-point scale as follows:  Completeness - 3 pts (haiku, haiku related to psychoactive substance, description of haiku), Accuracy - 3 pts (comments are accurate and match what we know from the chapter), Detail - 4 pts (you described the reasoning of the development of the haiku relating it to the course material in the module).
