Career Exploration Topic Sign-up

Purpose: This assignment aims to learn about a health career through an informational interview and share what you learned with the class.

Directions: To begin this assignment, you will sign up for a topic that is based on careers you may be interested in.

To sign up for a topic:

1. Select the People menu on the left navigation
2. Select "Career Exploration Presentation Topics" tab
3. Add yourself to one of the Topics

Submit: For this assignment, you will use the Canvas text entry of this assignment to indicate which career exploration topic you joined.

Grading: For this assignment, you will be graded on signing up for a career exploration topic. 

Once you have signed up for the topic, you will interview an individual of your choosing and learn more about their career. You are free to choose any questions you would like to ask the individual. I have provided a few ideas for questions below. 

1. What are the educational requirements for this profession?
2. What made you decide to go into this profession?
3. Does this position require any certifications or licensure?
4. What does a typical day look like in this profession?
5. What are the pros and cons of this profession?
6. Are there any stories from your career that you would be willing to share? 
7. What advice do you have for people considering this profession?
8. Are there any resources you would recommend when looking into this profession?

Once you have completed the interview, you will create a short PowerPoint and 2-minute video discussing the findings from your interview. The PowerPoint and video will be posted to a discussion board and shared with the rest of the class to learn more about the profession you explored. 

You will submit your PowerPoint and Video to the assignment outlined below based on your topic's due date:. 

• Topic 1 will submit their assignments on 5/23 to assignment: M03: Topic 1 Career Exploration
• Topic 2 will submit their assignments on 5/30 to assignment: M05: Topic 2 Career Exploration
• Topic 3 will submit their assignments on 6/6 to assignment: M07: Topic 3 Career Exploration
• Topic 4 will submit their assignments to 6/13 to assignment: M09: Topic 4 Career Exploration
• Topic 5 will submit their assignments to 6/20 to assignment: M11: Topic 5 Career Exploration
