Why This Page

[This page is a suggested outline to specify instructor responsibilities for this course. The instructor notes page has four purposes:

Provide instructors a place to record what needs to be done each semester
Inform other instructors what is expected of them while teaching
Provide evidence related to compliance issues such as Regular and substantive Interaction
Document course design decisions for future course iteration]

These sections are suggestions. This page may be modified as needed.]

Before the start of the semester

[This section is where you can indicate what instructors need to do after the course has been imported to the new semester. For example:

Update due dates

Update student breaks

Set delivery dates for static announcements

Create a new announcements (if applicable such as a welcome announcement or others)

Set up groups (these do not import) (if applicable)

The Group sign-up page in Module 3 needs to be deleted each semester. Use the template found in the Group Assignment folder in the Files area of Canvas.

The results from the form found in Module 4 needs to be reset each semester. Instructions on how to do so can be found in the Files area.

The expectations for instructors before the semester starts will vary from course to course.

Instructor responsibilities during the semester

[This section is where instructor teaching responsibilities are outlined. The actions should be as specific as possible. Examples:

Instructors should create a weekly announcement each week accompanied by a 5–10-minute video using the slides provided.

Grading is expected to be detailed and substantive. Instructors should give each student one paragraph on weekly response submissions.

Instructors are expected to participate in all discussions either making their posts or replying to student posts.
