Why we are including this example
This example is included because as AI becomes more prevalent in education it is important for students to understand how AI works, along with its benefits and limitations. This assignment helps students engage with AI early on in the course.

Instructions
We will go into more detail in a later module on Artificial Intelligence (AI), however we want to introduce this topic early in the course to help you understand how AI works along with its benefits and limitations. Ultimately, we want to help you become socially and ethically responsible in your use of technology tools such as AI.
Step 1: Study the Course AI Policy
Become familiar with the Syllabus Course AI Policy.
AI Options
Explore the different AI options available and select which one you will use.

Step 2: Engage with AI
Use the AI tool you selected to help draft a response to the following prompt. (You may have to iterate with the AI to get it to do what you want it to do.)
Note: Some AIs, such as Copilot, Gemini, ChatGPT can read the article weblink directly while others may need you to copy and paste the linked article content.

Answer these questions (in about 350 words):

Step 3: Do Your Research
After obtaining your draft from AI, do the following:
- Verify the accuracy of the AI-generated content. Identify and correct any inaccuracies.
- Cite at least two credible sources that support your corrections or provide additional insights.
Step 4: Reflect and Write
- Summarize what you learned about AI.
- Discuss how you can apply this knowledge to an area of personal or professional interest.
Step 5: Write Your Own Paper
Compile your findings and reflections into a well-structured APA style paper.
Paper Requirements
- In at least one page (300-400 words) reply to steps 2-4 above and include:
- Title page
- Introduction
- (paragraph introducing your paper and specify which AI you used)
- AI Prompt and response (step 2--does not count toward length)
- Research to verify or refute what the AI gave you (using in-text citation) (step 3)
- Your reflection (step 4)
- References page
