Introduction and Rationale
The purpose of an online class "Getting to Know You" discussion is to foster a sense of community and connection among students in a virtual learning environment. This activity allows students to share a glimpse of their personalities, interests, and backgrounds. By sharing a little bit about yourself, participants can create a more inclusive and engaging online learning community. This not only enhances the social aspect of the class but also contributes to a positive and collaborative online learning experience.
Discussion Prompt
For this discussion I want you to imagine a world where artificial intelligence brings your unique personality to life! If you could have AI generate an animated image that represents you, what elements and characteristics would you want it to capture? Share your ideas and get ready to see your virtual selves come to life in this "Getting to Know You" discussion!
- Using a generative AI tool such as Adobe Firefly Links to an external site. or Bing CoPilot Links to an external site., craft a vivid description prompt of yourself, from hair color to eye color and any other distinguishing features.
- Dive deeper by adding at least three character traits, hobbies, or interests that truly reflect who you are.
Here is an example to help get you started:
- Starting AI prompt: "Create an animated middle aged woman with shoulder length black hair and brown eyes who enjoys painting, gardening and exercise"
Questions:
- Which AI generator tool(s) did you use?
- How did AI do with your writing prompt?
- How could you refine your prompt to get more of what you are looking for?
- Did you try more than once to get what you were looking for? If so, what words seemed to make the biggest difference?
- How does the image compare to what you really look like?
- Did the image include everything you wanted it to?
- Were there obvious flaws or drawbacks with the image that was generated?
How to Post and Respond
Post the image you created and answers to at least three of the questions above. Make sure that you give credit for the tool(s) you used in creating the image.
Make your original post by Thursday and followup comments by Sunday.
Feel free to respond to other students posts. This is a great way to get to know your peers in this course.
Promoting Transparency with AI (Giving Credit Where Credit is Due)
- When using AI tools, as with any other resources, you need to give credentials for the content.
- For example: the images shared above were created using the AI tools Adobe Firefly and Bing Copilot.
