Why we are including this example
Social media practitioners can't to it all alone! They need to work with others from walking around the office to learn more about what is happening in the organization to working with different departments on projects. And, at some places of work, employees work remotely in different states with different time zones and teamwork is critical. To use a football analogy, a social media manager may be a quarterback leading social media efforts but they need others to get the ball down the field. This entire module is dedicated to setting you and your teammates up for success with your group portfolio project this semester. The work you create as well as how your team works together are all resume builders as well as talking points when interviewing for a job.

Let's go TEAM!
The Meaning of T.E.A.M.
What can we learn from a fourth-grader? A lot!
The Success Teams Create
Marc Durant-Bender clearly defined "team." Yes, teamwork is critical not just in sports but with any type of job no matter the industry, the size of the office, or the role you play there. It makes organizations and people more successful. Working well with others, having skills to organize people and projects, being able to listen and collaborate as well as leading yourself or others to accomplish a goal are all key attributes employers or clients look for in individuals and organizations to work with. These skills can have a big impact.
While we are not saving miners in this course nor "teaming on the fly" like a sports pick up game, we are building skills just as a sports team would by practicing each week in our realm of working together towards a specific goal, an awesome project. By working together as a team, you will be also building "teaming" skills that will help with future projects whether that's a sudden deadline for your department set by the president of the company, a crisis where the solution may be unclear or just planning a party for someone leaving at the last minute.
