  • Consider the WHY of the discussion--what do you hope to accomplish with/for your students?
  • Discussions should NOT have a right or wrong answer
  • Prompts must be compelling to elicit meaningful discussion
  • Discussions must provide a safe space to engage in respectful dialog and disagreement 

Other Ideas for Discussion Boards

  • Discussion boards can be used in a unique way and may depend upon the needs of the course. For example, art classes can use them for critiques.
