Upon successful completion of this lesson, students will be able to:
- List the main neurotransmitter systems affected by opioids
- Describe pharmacokinetics (including absorption, distribution, metabolism, and excretion) of opioids
- Classify the effect of opioids on neurotransmitter systems as agonist, antagonist, or partial agonist
- Apply basic brain anatomy and physiology to the effects of opioids
- Explain effects of opioids based on psychopharmacology knowledge
Overview
Psychopharmacology investigates the impact of psychoactive substances on the brain. Module 10 will explore the effects of opioids on the brain, mood, thinking, sensation, and behavior.
