Items of Note
This course was developed with Instructional Designers, Janel Mitchell and Daina Romney.
- This is a hybrid course which guides students through the modules with instructive text headers, "Before Class", "Attend Class [specific date]", "After Class", "Looking Ahead".
- Synchronous Lesson Plans provides an outline of planned activities for each face-to-face class session and remain unpublished.
- "[specific date] Attendance" is a regular Canvas survey with unique passwords given out in class ONLY.
- In-class discussions continue online with a post-class discussion where students reflect on how the in-class experience correlates with the online learning activities and assignments for that week.
- For group work, students initially self select into groups by their availability--Available "Weekday AM", "Weekday PM", "Weekday EVEs", or "WeekENDS Only". This allows the faculty to eliminate the scheduling barrier so common in group work before assigning them into groups.
- Shyrel does an excellent job of meeting students where they are at with original short course videos to explain the course and concepts.
