Meet Dr. Weihong Wang

Instructor Information and Welcome Message

Hello, this is Dr. Weihong Wang. I am in my 7th year of teaching at UVU. I am an Associate Professor in the Department of Earth Science. My Master degree is in Geology from Iowa State University and my Ph.D. is in Marine Science from the University of South Carolina. My research is mainly focusing on human impact on aquatic/wetland ecosystems using different proxies and mapping techniques. I also co-lead Italy Study Abroad program in our department. We run this program at the beginning of the second summer block (except this summer due to COVID-19 pandemic). The is a two-week long program. The study abroad group explores Aeolian Islands geology and biology.The Aeolian Islands are a volcanic archipelago in the Tyrrhenian Sea north of Sicily, named after the demigod of the winds Aeolus. Feel free to ask me any questions regarding the Italy Study Abroad Program if you are interested in it.
