- Due Dec 17, 2021 by 11:59pm
- Points 100
- Submitting a text entry box or a file upload
Overview
According to UVU Policy 601, all courses shall have a final exam/assessment that takes place during exam week, and within departmental guidelines, Faculty shall have the flexibility to determine appropriate methods of the final assessment.
For this course, the Final Project will be a case study related to an accident that has a significant connection to air traffic control (and an area discussed in this course). You cannot use a major accident already used in the Course Modules. The Final Project is a team project and requires a collaborative effort between two students. Your team will have an opportunity to study, outline, and present an argument either for or against the NTSB or a court decision and provide amplifying justification through the use of references beyond the NTSB evaluation.
Your team will be required to prepare and submit a recorded slide presentation using Kaltura Capture. This is a casual, but professional presentation. Each team member's recorded presentation will cover 1/2 of the case study research and findings. It is up to the team members to determine how the workload will be divided amongst the members.
Note: You are not required to meet face to face, but are required to communicate with your team member via email, Canvas, Teams, etc.
Instructions
Complete the Final Project by doing the following:
- Connect with your Team member.
- Read - Tips for Online Team Collaborating to see how to message your team member.
- Review all course material.
- To search NTSB accidents go to the National Transportation Safety Board website. Links to an external site.
- Use credible sources on the internet for your research.
- Each team member will create a slide presentation covering 1/2 of the research and findings using PowerPoint, Google Slides, or a similar format that includes the following:
- Overview of the NTSB accident.
- Identify and discuss in detail how the accident had a significant connection to air traffic control and related to this course of study.
- Discuss the role of ATC played and the safety implications.
- NTSB final probable cause
- Study, outline, and present an argument either for or against the NTSB or a court decision and provide amplifying justification through the use of references beyond the NTSB evaluation.
- Format your slide presentation using APA style. Slide presentation must include references in APA format.
- Post a recorded slide presentation of your findings using Kaltura Capture. Here is a review of How to Record with Kaltura.
- You will submit your individually recorded presentation on the next page in the assignment: Final Project - Individual Kaltura
- Submit your Final Project by the due date.
Guidelines for Presentation
- Use Microsoft PowerPoint, Google Slides, or a similar format. For help using PowerPoint, use the following link to access Microsoft PowerPoint training videos: UVU Software Tutorials. (Links to an external site.)
- Slides should follow a logical sequence and provide a summary and outline of factual information.
- Insert at least three images, charts, and/or diagrams.
- Include references on a separate slide.
- Each member will submit a four-five minute recorded video presentation of their findings using Kaltura Capture.
Note: It is up to the team members to determine how the workload will be divided amongst the members. Each member should not present the same information, but instead, divide evenly amongst each member to present.
You will not need to meet in person for this activity; working remotely with each other can be easily accomplished. If your team has any questions, please contact your instructor.
References
At least three references are required for each team member presentation. References and in-text citations should be listed in APA format.
Grading
The Final Project is worth 100 points. Each team member will be graded on their individual presentation using the grading rubric. Points will be awarded for collaboration between team members. Final project requirements and information should be covered between both team member presentations. Points will be deducted at five points per minute for going under or over the time requirements for the recorded video presentation. See the rubric below for how this assignment will be graded.
Submit
Each team member should upload your team assignment individually. You will have two (2) submissions for this assignment:
- Your slide presentation should be submitted as a PowerPoint using the "File Uploads" tab in this Canvas assignment.
- Your recorded slide presentation should be submitted using Kaltura Capture using the "Text Entry" tab in this Canvas assignment. See "Uploading Videos to My Media" in How to Record with Kaltura on how to submit your Kaltura video.
The final project should be uploaded by the due date. Late assignments will not be accepted!
