  Welcome Statement

Welcome back to class! Would I sound like too much of a nerd if I admitted that the first day of Spring semester is my third favorite day of the year? (My first favorite day of the year is my birthday! My second favorite day of the year is the first day of Fall semester.) I love new classes, new notebooks, new pens and new friends! School is the best :)

In class this week we will be getting to know each other and the course expectations. Class will be run on a weekly schedule.  The week will run Sunday to Sunday.  This means that I will assign everything for the week on Sunday morning and it will all be due Saturday night at 11:59 PM. In other words, all of your assignments, readings, videos will  be due on a Sunday at 11:59 PM. This will allow you to squeeze your studying into whatever time slots you have available in your life after work, taking care of family, etc.

Be sure to read over your syllabus. It will answer all of your questions and tell you exactly what we will be doing with our time together this semester. You may also want to visit the Frequently Asked Questions page to find other resources, both for the classroom and the university as a whole).

Have a fantastic week!

Dr. Kris

 Education and Experience

I love the field of psychology.  I received all three of my degrees (BS, MS and PhD) from the University of Utah. My research looks at the psychophysiology of narration. In other words, I study how the the stories you tell about your life affect your body. It's much cooler than it sounds. I promise ;)

In the classroom, I have extensive experience in teaching undergraduates across a broad spectrum of classes including departmental core courses (e.g. Statistics for the Behavioral Sciences) and classes in Developmental Psychology (e.g. Child and Adolescent Development and Adult Development and Aging.)  The anonymous reviews by my students have been consistently laudatory, citing my enthusiasm, organization, and teaching style as highlights of the course.

Even though we are meeting virtually, I want to get to know you. I LOVE talking to students!! You can ask me about anything related to the class, real world applications of psychology, becoming a psych major, graduate school and other psych-based careers, where I find my endless supply of hilarious, psychology-related memes.

When I am not working, I enjoy reading, playing the piano and boating!
