  • Make connections between Romanticism in painting, poetry, and music
  • Trace the development of photography in the nineteenth century

Overview

With the midterm behind you, it is time to move into the nineteenth century. This week you will learn about styles of Romanticism and Realism and how they responded to broader social/cultural attitudes. You will notice as we move through the nineteenth century that styles of art are developing and changing more rapidly than in previous centuries. Since no artist ever creates in a vacuum, keep your eye out for influences of past styles on new movements.
