FAMS 4670 Items of Note
Items of Note
This course was developed with Instructional Designers, Julie Swindler, Kelli Freeman and Megan Bates. These are a few items of note:
-
Videos: The professor's welcome video, although casual, is reflective of his engaging personality and demonstrates his passion for the topic. He includes a video every week in the Overview pages as well. This helps solidify his social presence in the course.
-
The lecture materials for each module, including audio clips and a short Therapy Insights video from the professor, are incorporated into a StoryMap, covering basic principles of the topic for the week.
- Most modules included a Perusall assignment.
-
Each module included an application assignment in which students took the principles they were learning and applied them to a specific task. The Family Dynamic Meme assignment for this particular sample module is especially fun.
- In Week 10 of the course, the professor includes a "check-in" quiz for students to report on their well-being. Knowing the professor cares about them as an individual helps students feel "seen" and acknowledged and improves student success.
